Best of Both Worlds

Young love is a strange thing. Clover is finding this out each day. Every image of Greg filled her head. His dark brown hair was the first thing to pop up in his mind. She wanted to run her fingers through that messy mop. Clover just had to see his face again. Luckily, Liz was in town visiting for the weekend. Her sister leaned into her face with a big grin. Clover blinked with a confused look on her face.

“What?” Clover asked.

“You have that look about you,” her sister said.

“What look?”

Liz giggled. “You’re in love!”

Clover’s face turned bright red. “I am not!”

“That’s not what I have heard.”

“Shut up!” The younger sister buried her face in her arm. Liz gave her a goofy smile as she patted her on the back.

“It’s okay,” she said. “I know that feeling all too well.” Clover puffed up her cheeks and looked away. Liz tried to turn her face back to her.

“So tell me,” she said. “Who is he?”

“Huh?”

“Who is the boy you like?”

Clover lowered her eyes. “His name is Greg.”

“Greg?”

“I don’t know much else about him.”

Liz gave her a cat-like smile. “That’s what makes it more exciting.”

Once again, Aisha came up with another plan. “You know; we should help out Clover.” The other old biddies looked at her with blank stares like fishes.

“Why?” Lewis asked.

“She’s a young girl in love,” the leader said.

“I doubt that she needs our help,” Muriel said.

“Excuse me?”

Muriel shrugged her shoulders. “I mean… we are old. What would we know about young love?”

“She right, ya know?” Clyde said.

“Thank you,” her friend said back.

“But still, she’s your neighbor!” Aisha argued.

“So?” Muriel asked.

“So? You should want to help your neighbor no matter what!”

“I don’t think we should this time.”

“But we must!” In the end as predicted, Aisha won out and dragged the old biddies to do her bidding. This would be another trip for disaster.

Liz put her arm around Clover. “Don’t worry baby sis! I will help you get your bloke!” Clover chuckled to herself rather nervous. That’s what I was afraid of… It would get worse when there was a knock on the door.

“I wonder who that is,” Liz said. Clover only got like a second to breathe before she got blindsided by the old biddies in the doorway. Liz blinked when she saw the old women.

“Hello…” she said.

“Hello there, Elizabeth,” Aisha said. “It’s nice to see you again. How are your classes?”

“Good…” she replied. As soon as Clover saw Aisha’s face, she panicked. Oh no! Now I’m really in for it now! She could only envision what scheme they were going to pull to potentially end up chasing away Greg. She buried her head in her hands. No! It can’t end this way! Oh, it was only beginning.
