Chapter Nine: The Boss:

Noiz waited in the living room. “You ready yet?” she asked.

“Yes!” Mosh answered from upstairs. Noiz looked at her cell phone. They planned to leave in ten minutes.

“I don’t want to be late!” she shouted.

“We won’t!” he insisted. “I’m just about done!”

“Hurry up!”

“I will!”

Noiz’s eyes rolled up to the ceiling. He better not make me wait for this! She looked up when she heard footsteps coming down the stairs. Mosh held Ume in his arms with his beach bag on his shoulder.

“I’m here,” he said. Noiz rose to her feet.

“It’s about time!” she said. “Ready to go?”

“Yes,” her husband replied.

“Good, let’s go!” the kitty said. She turned and walked out the door. Mosh shrugged his shoulders.

“You’re the boss, I guess,” I said under his breath. He and the baby followed her out the door.

Mosh insisted that they took the car for this trip. Noiz frowned at the idea.

“I really wanted to take your motorcycle for this trip,” she said.

“But we can’t,” the mouse boy told her. “It’s not exactly safe for the baby.” His wife sighed.

“I guess you’re right,” she said. Of course, she would be driving her jeep. Like hell she would like Mosh or anyone else die it. Mosh looked out the window.

“So what are we doing today?” he asked.

“Just going to the beach,” Noiz answered with her eyes on the road.

“And then what?” Mosh asked. “Are we going swimming, walking, having a picnic? What are we doing at the beach?”

“We’re just going to walk around the beach for a bit,” Noiz answered. “Visit the aquarium, have a picnic, and maybe spend the night out.” Mosh gave her a confused look.

“Wait, we’re staying out?” he asked.

“Why yes,” she answered.

“You didn’t tell me this.”

“I know,” the kitty said. “I just thought of it when I got up this morning.”

“But I didn’t even pack anything for an overnight stay,” her husband complained.

“Oh don’t worry,” she said. “I already have us all covered—Ume-chan too.” Mosh sat back in his chair, giving himself a little smile. The way she said it kind of scared him, but all the same he figured it wouldn’t be so bad.

“Alright,” he said. “You’re the boss, after all.” Noiz couldn’t help but to smirk to herself.

“Why yes I am,” she replied to no one in particular. Mosh pretended not to hear her as their daughter slept in her car seat in the back.
