Everybody Loves Sunshine

What is love? Clyde has a vague notion of it. She waited outside of her house. The dirty old biddy smirked to herself as she knew that eight o’clock was coming in five… four… three… two… one! Clyde lifted her head when she heard the front next door opening. Nick walked out to begin his job at the factory for the day.

“Sweetie!” Clyde yelled as she darted towards him. The man, mortified, tried to run in the other direction, but his neighbor proved too quick for him. Clyde quickly pounced on him, hugging him on the ground.

“I missed ya sa much!” she shouted. Her crooked, yellowed teeth freaked the man out already.

“Get off!” he shouted. The more he struggled, the Clyde hold on, hugging him. It took about ten minutes to push her off. Nick pushed himself to his feet, snorting.

“Disgusting woman,” he muttered to himself. The man turned to walk away. Clyde sat up, grinning.

“See ya when ya get home!” she shouted. Her voice alone was enough to send him running.

What is love? William hasn’t really known it. The man had never really had a stable lover in his life. There was one girl, but it didn’t work out. Will sat back on the couch as she came back into his head. Now, what was her name again? He looked out the window, frowning. Was it Janet? Or was it Holly? Maybe it was Kelly. Will tried to think until he deepened his frown and turned over on the couch.

“Oh bugger,” he muttered to himself. “Why bother with that mess all over again?” It all felt pointless to him.

What is love? Tucker and Annie have an odd way of showing it. They fight practically every day. Some wonder why they aren’t divorced at all. Both have some sort of excuse to pull.

“Too much money,” he says.

“Too much of a hassle,” she says. Yet, they can’t stand each other. They often complain about and to each other on the little things. However, they still love each other in that strange, angry way. Everyone just gave up on figuring them out by this point. However, the married couple still cares about each other so not to stress each other out at times. Those happen to be few and far in between.

What is love? The other three old biddies had it once. Lewis’s husband, Terry, died years ago. She somewhat misses him even though he acted like a typical guy. Still, she did care for him in a way.

Muriel once had a love herself. They didn’t work out and ended in divorce. She didn’t understand why she put up with his so long. He didn’t seem to know how to keep his eyes to himself. The final straw was when she caught him with one of the neighbor’s cousin kissing in the living room. Muriel didn’t “hear him out” this time. By morning, he was gone and she hadn’t contacted him since. The old biddy found herself content will that.

Aisha knew what love was and still claimed to. Her husband died of illness, but they were still a team. They ran their house like a tightly-manned ship. Aisha was so proud of that fact that she constantly bragged around it. Her husband’s passing gave as a great loss to her. Still, she could never forget such a strong and honorable man.

What is love? Liz thinks she has found it for the first time. She can’t stop thinking about this boy named Ian. He’s a year and grade older than she is. They barely speak; he’s in the “cool” clique while she hopes that he will notice her. Liz doesn’t know how to approach him either. She started looking for love advice last month. Some think it’s a silly crush, but she doesn’t. In Ian, she sees her soul mate, future husband, and father.

Today, she’s going to be all of that advice to good use. Liz dolled herself up and headed out the door. Clover just waved her off. Younger sister already has doubts about this plan.

Seriously, what is love? Take a look around.
