Mr. Universe

The groups of gentlemen stared at Kat and Aisha. One of them who was dressed nicely tilted his head.

“Can we help you?” he asked. Aisha clapped her hands together.

“You see, my friend’s niece here is single again,” she said, putting her arm around Kat’s shoulder. “I’m helping her find a new love.” The young men still looked confused.

“Okay, so?” one of them asked.

“Are any of you lads single?” the leader asked. The men gave her strange looks. Aisha still grinned. Muriel, Lewis, and Clyde stood off to the side, trying not to laugh. The leader looked over at them, cutting them a sharp glare. The old biddies quickly went quiet. She turned back to the young men and noticed that they had backed away a few feet.

“Where are you guys going?” Aisha asked. She nudged Kat in the side.

“Come on, smile, girl!” the old biddy said. She grabbed the young woman by the arm and dragged her along after those poor young men. The other old biddies had no choice, but to follow.

Liz and Brian sat together at their table. They, or rather, Liz couldn’t think of anything to say. Brian rubbed the back of his head.

“So… how have you been?” he asked.

“Good,” Liz said. She wouldn’t make eye contact with him for some reason. Why was she acting like this? This was good old Brian after all. He had a crush on her, but that was it. It wasn’t like she was going to go to bed with him or anything.

“I’m doing good too,” Brian spoke up.

“I see,” Liz said. The pair tried to look elsewhere. The nature and the people at the picnic filled the silence. Brian looked up at the sky and chuckled. Liz rubbed the back of her head, wishing that something or someone would change the awkwardness.

Aisha dragged Kat around with her, looking for those young men. Meanwhile, Lewis shook her head.

“‘Ow long before she gives up?” Clyde asked.

“You know how she is,” Muriel said. The dirty old biddy frowned.

“Yeah,” she said. Lewis was laughing the whole time. Meanwhile, Aisha had turned her back for a second to look for those young men. She put her hands on her hips.

“Aw, shoot,” the leader said. “Where did they go?” Aisha happened to turn around and notice that she was alone. She frowned and puffed up her cheeks.

“Now where did Kat go?” the old lady asked. Aisha began another search of her target along with the young men.

“Kat!” she shouted. “Where did you go? Kat? Kat!” The other three old biddies followed behind without saying a word.

William wandered over to the food table. He had just got himself a plate when he noticed Tucker leaned over the table, panting. The old man tilted his head.

“Tuck?” he asked. “Is that you?” The café owner looked up at him with bags under her eyes.

“Hi,” he mumbled.

“Tuck, what’s wrong?” William asked. The other man groaned and fell on the ground. He looked up to see his old friend looking down.

“Annie’s working me to death?” she asked. William raised his eyebrow.

“Let me guess, another rival is here, right?” he asked.

“Yeah,” Tucker grumbled.

“Which one?”

“Tara.”

William gave off a low whistle. “Damn. I wish you luck, mate.” Suddenly, Annie walked over to the men and put her hands on her hips.

“Tucker!” she shouted. “What are you doing lying on the ground? Get up! We still have work to do! Get up and get moving!” Annie clapped her hands together. Her husband lifted his head as his wife walked over to the table. Tucker turned his head towards William. His friend smiled and shrugged at him.

“I’m sorry, mate,” he said. “Like I said, I wish you luck.” Tucker dropped his head and groaned aloud towards the mud.

Aisha found her found crowded by a tree, giggling. She wandered over with a puzzled look on her face.

“What are you guys looking at?” she asked. Lewis smirked as she pointed forward. The leader her head and her face dropped. Kat was sitting under the other side of the tree kissing on one of the young men dressed casually in the group. He had his hand on her breast. Aisha’s mouth dropped to the ground. She turned to the other three old biddies.

“Is that…?” the leader asked.

“Yes!” Lewis, Muriel, and Clyde said.

“With…?” she asked.

“Yes,” they said. Aisha fell to her knees with her jaw wide open. All of the color drained from her face. Lewis turned to her with a smirk on her face.

“Still think she needs our help?” she asked. Aisha slowly shook her head.

“Didn’t think so,” the farmer said. She turned back to her niece still making out with her potential rebound guy under that tree. Aisha looked like the tiny husk of a person as she watched the unsightly behavior in front of her. The other three old biddies were laughing in their heads the whole time.
