Once again, there is nothing to do in Brit-Wales during the summer. Again, Aisha couldn’t stand it. She just had to answer the call to action. The leader decided to give her mission one more go. Her first stop was at Muriel’s house. Aisha drew in a breath and knocked on the door. She looked at her pocket watch. The curtains in the door lifted in the corner. Aisha smiled and waved at her.

“Good morning!” she said. Muriel tried to close the curtain. Aisha knocked on the door again.

“Muriel!” she shouted. “I just want to talk!”

“Go away!” Muriel shouted.

“Please?”

“Please leave me alone.”

After ten minutes, Aisha turned and walked away.

Next up on the list was Clyde. Aisha ready didn’t enjoy this run. She already felt like taking a bath. I have to do this! She drew in a breath and knocked on the door. Aisha braced herself as heard mumbling behind the door. She took a step back when Clyde opened the door a crack.

“Wha?” she asked. Aisha shuffled her feet.

“I’m going to work around the church today,” she said. “Want to come and help me?” Clyde narrowed her eyes, frowning.

“No,” she said.

“No?” Aisha asked.

“No.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yeah.”

Aisha narrowed her eyes. “Why?”

“I wanna sleep!” Clyde slammed the door in Aisha’s face. The leader pouted and frowned.

“That’s all you ever do!” she shouted. Aisha walked away gritting her teeth.

Aisha wouldn’t quit yet. She still had one more house to go to. Yes, I can count on her for this. She has to say yes! The leader marched up to Lewis’ door and knocked. To her surprise, the farmer opened it a crack, peeking out. Aisha raised an eyebrow at the tired bags under her eyes.

“Are you okay?” she asked.

“Yes,” Lewis said in one breath. The leader blinked, uncertain on whether to believe her or not.

“Anyway,” she said. “I’m going to help out the church. Would you like to come with me?” Lewis stood up straight.

“Yes!” she said without thinking. Aisha backed up, blinking.

“Whoa!” she said. “Are you serious?”

“Yes!” Lewis said. “Can we go now?” The leader tilted her head.

“Is something wrong?” she asked. Lewis bit her lower lip as she looked back into her house.

“Kat’s back,” she whispered. Aisha raised an eyebrow at her.

“What?” she asked.

“My niece came back.”

“Why?”

Lewis sighed and dropped her shoulders. “She and her boyfriend got into a stupid fight and she came back here.”

“That soon?”

“Yes!” Lewis grabbed her by the sleeves. “Please! Help… me!”

“Auntie!” Kat whimpered inside. “I need another hug! I’m so lonely!” Lewis grabbed onto Aisha’s sleeves with a tighter grip.

“Please?!” she cried. Aisha held like running away herself as she tried to back away.

“Okay…” she said in a low voice. Lewis buried her head against her chest.

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” she said aloud. Aisha smiled in discomfort. This isn’t how I wanted to do this, but it will do for now…

“Alight,” Aisha said uneasily.

“Thank you!” Lewis said aloud. “Take me with your right now!”

“Okay, okay,” the leader said. She ended up leading her farmer friend away from her house down to the dirt road.
