Chapter Six: Art:
We all gathered at the bride’s apartment.
Noiz pressed her hands to her forehead.
“What do we have here?” she asked.
“The bride’s gone,” Katie said.
“Yes,” Noiz said. “But why?” Everyone in the
living was quiet. Noiz puffed up her cheeks.
“Right…” she said. Art raised his hand.
“I did find a number by the phone,” he said.
He handed the paper to his boss. Noiz read over the number about two or three
times.
“Does anyone know this number?” she asked.
Not a single person said a word. The kitty headmistress lifted her head to the
ceiling and sighed.
“Right,” she said. “You know you guys aren’t
helping, right?” The kitty pulled out her phone and dialed the number.
“Hello?” a man’s voice asked.
“Who is this?” Noiz asked.
“*******?”
“No…”
“Are you related to *******?”
“No.”
“Then how did you get this number?”
“We found it in *******’s apartment.”
“Wait, we?”
“Yes. Now will you tell us who you are?” All
Noiz got on the other line was someone hanging up. The kitty stared at her
phone, puzzled.
“Who was it?” Art asked.
“Don’t know,” she said. “It was some guy and
then he hung up. He sounded bring freaked out.”
“Freaked out how?” Louise asked.
“I don’t know, like he was paranoid or
something,” the kitty said. Her eyes scanned everyone in the living room.
“Whelp, it looks like we are doing some bride-hunting.” Groans filled the room.
“But why?” Art asked.
“If she doesn’t want to be found or get
married, her loss,” T.J. said.
“This is true,” Noiz said. “But something
tells me that if we don’t find her soon, this will spell trouble for the rest of
us.”
“But how do we even find her?” Art asked. The
kitty headmistress put her arms behind her head.
“Look for her in all of the usual spots,” she said. Even the tone in her voice sounded so uncertain.
