Chapter Fourteen: Car Ride:

Mosh pounced on their bed about three in the morning. He grabbed Noiz by the shoulder and started shaking her.

“Hey,” he whispered. “Wake up! Wake up!” Noiz tried to swat him away.

“Go away,” she mumbled.

“Come on, please?” her husband asked.

“No!” the kitty complained. “Let me sleep!” Mosh pouted at her.

“Please?” he begged. Noiz looked up at him with narrowed.

“What is it?” she asked. The mouse gave her a warm smile.

“I have a little surprise for you,” he whispered. His wife blinked at him.

“Can’t this wait until morning?” she asked.

“No!” Mosh pressed. “We have to go now!”

“But why?” Noiz asked. “What is it that you want to show me so badly?” Mosh threw a robe at her.

“Just put this on and come with me!” he pressed. Noiz groaned and rolled her eyes.

“Fine,” she grumbled. Noiz climbed out of bed and put on her robe.

“I’ll be downstairs, waiting,” Mosh told her.

“Right,” the kitty mumbled. Her husband walked out of the room as she managed to get one arm into a sleeve.

----

Noiz made it down to the living room. Mosh sat on the couch, waiting for her. He turned to her with a kind smile on his face.

“Ready to go?” he asked. Noiz narrowed her eyes at him.

“Where?” she asked.

“You’ll see,” he said. Noiz’s frown deepened on her face. This better be worth dragging my ass out of bed for, she thought. Mosh stood up and headed out the front door.

“Wait, where are you going?” his wife asked.

“You’ll see in a minute!” he shouted. Frustrated and confused, Noiz followed behind him. He led her all the way out to her jeep.

“Okay…” his wife said. “Why are we out here?” Mosh swung the keys around in his hand.

“We’re going for a drive,” he said. Noiz gave him an odd look.

“You don’t expect me to drive, do you?” she asked. The mouse all but laughed at her.

“No, no, no,” he said. “I’m the one who’s driving this morning.” Noiz’s face dropped.

You’re driving?” she asked.

“Yes,” the mouse said, nodding.

“Can you even drive?” his wife asked.

“It’ll be fine!” Mosh insisted. “Just get in.” He unlocked the driver’s side and climbed in. Noiz frowned about still uneasy.

“You better not scratch my jeep,” she mumbled as he unlocked the passenger side door. The kitty opened it and climbed in. Mosh glanced over at her once she put her seat belt on.

“Ready?” he asked.

“Yes, yes,” Noiz muttered her breath. Mosh cranked up the car and pulled out of the driveway.

The wind blew through the vehicle down the road. Noiz looked out the window, frowning.

“You still haven’t told me why we’re out here like this,” she said. Mosh glanced over at her from the side.

“Doesn’t there really have to be a reason?” he asked.

“I would like one,” his pregnant wife hissed. Mosh put up his hand in an attempt to calm her down. They pushed up to a stoplight on an empty street. The mouse boy shut off the car.

“I can’t stand to see you upset like this,” he admitted. Noiz looked over at him with a puzzled look on her face.

“What?” she asked. Mosh rested his hand on hers.

“You’re just not being you lately,” he said in a low voice.

“Well, I’m pregnant,” she reminded him.

“That’s not the only thing,” her husband countered. Noiz looked up at him rather surprised.

“What do you mean?” she asked.

“You’ve been pretty depressed since Christmas,” Mosh told her.

“What are you talking about?” Noiz tried to play off with a laugh. “I’m fine, really I am!” Her husband gave her the stern look of saying that he didn’t believe her. The kitty’s face dropped when she realized that he already knew the truth. She lowered her head as she looked away.

“Well,” she muttered. “It’s been pretty hard on me lately and I don’t know why I’m sad all the time.”

“Do you need someone to talk to?” Mosh asked. His wife shook her head.

“Can we just drive around in silence for a while?” she asked in a small voice. The mouse boy gave her a calm little smile.

“That’s why we’re out here, isn’t it?” he asked. Noiz gave him a little smile as she nodded.

“Thanks,” she whispered. The light changed green and Mosh put the jeep into drive. The couple spent most of the early morning just driving around downtown Tokyo until sunrise. As an extra bonus, Mosh took his wife to any restaurant of her choice for breakfast.
