Colin and Kellie

I’m not usually into bubble gum girls. They are too ditzy and wishy-washy. Those lasses are usually in their teen years. It’s really sad when an older woman is like that. Kellie, I hate to say, is on her way there. The worst part? She’s really cute! I would actually date her if she wasn’t a bubble gum girl. Yet, here we are.

Let’s back up again.

She’s the music teacher at the academy. The teenage boys have mixed opinions about her. On the one hand, she’s really cute. Yet on the other, she’s just a goofball that just can’t seem to keep it together. I wonder about her at times. I first met her in the hallway of the South Building. I had some time at lunch and just wanted to wander around for a bit. I heard some moan in disappointment further down in my direction.

Huh?, I thought. I slowly walked to the source of the sound.

“Oh no,” someone complained. “Bollocks!” I recognized that accent right off. I kind of frowned to myself.

Oh, I thought. It’s just her. I had heard the stories about Kellie. One word kept reoccurring about her: Ditzy. That one was already a red flag for me. I could just turn and walk away. It’s so easy to do. Really, it is.

Yet, that didn’t really happen here.

Moments later, I stood over her. I watched her for a good few moments. Don’t interfere. Do not interfere, I told myself. Yet, she looks so pitiful.

“Bollocks!” she cursed to herself. “Bollocks! Bollocks!” She kept picking up papers and putting them in order. She still looks pitiful. I really should help her out…

“Excuse me, lass,” I spoke up. “Do you need any help with that?” She paused where she was. The woman slowly looked up at me. I guess I kind of smiled at her, because I noticed that her cheeks were a light red.

“Oh…” she said. It looked like a red flag in her eyes. Probably a good time to back out. Like right now. Kellie bowed her head at me.

“Yes,” she said. “That would be lovely.”

“Sure,” I said. I sank down to my knees and helped her collect the fallen papers on the ground. We ended up making to separate piles on the floor. She broke out in a big smile.

“Cheers,” she said.

“Yeah,” I said. She stared at me with that dreamy look in her eyes. I blinked at her.

“What?” I asked. “Do I have something on my face?”

“No,” she said. I gave her a strange look.

“Then…” I said.

“You’re Colin, aren’t you?” she asked. I nodded at her.

“Yes,” I said.

“Colin O’Sullivan?” she asked.

“Yeah,” I said. I looked at her in a funny way. “Why?” Kellie looked away, blushing.

“Wow…” she murmured to herself. I recognized that look on any bubble gum girl anywhere. Crap, she’s fancying me! I have to do something quit. I rubbed the back of my head and chuckled.

“Listen,” I said. “Uh… I better get back to class now.” Kellie looked up at me with a confused look of love.

“Huh?” she asked. “Oh! Yeah, yeah! Go on.” I rose to my feet and walked away as fast as I could. Something tells me that won’t be the end of that wishy-washy lady crossing paths with me. I can tell already.
