Chapter Three: Darkness Within:

Danielle has a secret.

Nobody believed her when she brought it up. The police thought it was part her imagination. That’s way they put her here. But she knew that she wasn’t going crazy. She had seen him with her own eyes.

She had known him for a year and a half now.

He comes out when he hears her agony. People die when he comes out. She doesn’t know how to control him. Because of this, she ended up here. He scares her now, but she can’t get away. The last time she tried to get away, he about killed her. Hence why she ended up in this room. Danielle couldn’t sleep with any sheets or pillows.

The last woman who tried to help her ended up dead. Those people just sent her another lady. How long before she would end up dead like the last one? Danielle did her best to keep to herself and keep her nose down.

She could still feel him around. He’s listening right now, in fact. Earlier, he rumbled below her feet. Danielle prayed that he would go away. But how could she get rid of someone that has been with her since she was born? Even trying to die wouldn’t work. He wanted more blood. The more he kills, the stronger he becomes.

Danielle shut her eyes and began to wish him away again. She knew that wouldn’t work, but she still did it because she didn’t know what else to do. Her lips moved as if to try and make her prayers be heard to him. Not that he would listen anyway. The patient didn’t expect today to be any different. If she was lucky, Dr. Carta could walk away unharmed.

She opened her eyes when she heard a clicking noise.

Dr. Carta reached over to her tape recorder. "Do you mind if I turn this on?" The patient kept her eyes to the table as she muttered something inaudible.

"Just to let you know," Dr. Carta said. "If I do something to upset you, just let me know, okay?" Danielle didn't say anything. The psychiatrist pressed her lips together.

"Alright," she said. She reached over and hit record on her tape recorder. Dr. Carta decided to go back to when the murders began.
