Chapter Four: Moving Out:

The survivors of the world have begun to move. They have no idea where they are going. The sand has made technology useless. People are either trying to find each other or for help. The whole world looks the same from the images reflected on the one rare TV still working.

The power lines stand like corpses planted to look creepy. Not a single bird flew in the sky. Even the clouds in the sky had disappeared. The sun became so unforgiving now. Trees could be so cruel in winter. Funny thing, it wasn’t really cold anymore. There was no temperature in the world. Many logical people wondered how this could be. It was like the human race awoke on another planet as soon as the year 2000 came.

Most of the animals left were four-legged animals. All of the birds seemed to have vanished with the changes. As for the fish, nobody tried to look and see because of the confusion. Once said confusion had passed, mankind tried to stabilize itself and more on. They gathered up what little they had left and started walking. They had no destination in mind. People just figured they couldn’t stay right where they were. Some were looking for missing loved ones. Others look for a hint of familiarity.

All the while, the gods sit back and watch. It is unclear as of right now of why they did this. Maybe, the answer will be revealed later. Nobody is too concerned about that as they are trying to fulfill their basic needs. Food appears to be running low because everyone is grabbed what try can that isn’t covered in sand. Oh the sand! It seemed that more of it buried everything as each day passed. Nobody knew how to stop it and gave up on trying.

Will the sand eat up everything in sight—including the people? The human race tries not to think about that as they try to get to someplace where they can regroup. Their footsteps disappear as the sand rebuilds like overnight. Some even think that this sand make for burying those that die on this journey. That thought alone brought in another question. Who would survive when this was all over? Nobody wanted to think about anything on this endless journey to nowhere. Still, more questions haunted them.

Who would get left behind? Would this sand ever stop flooding the earth? Would they ever go back to life as they knew it? Where would they go? Would they ever see their loved ones alive again? These questions build on each other with each step through the unforgiving sand.

Even so, humanity much go on in order to figure things out.
