Sick Mouse

Mosh lowered his ears. "My body's been in pain lately."

"What do you mean?" Noiz asked. "How long has this been going on?"

"A few weeks," he said.

"A few weeks?!" she asked. "A few weeks?! Why didn't you tell me?"

"I thought it was nothing," the mouse boy said. Noiz grabbed him by the shoulders. "You should've told me something."

"I'm so sorry," Mosh said.

"So, what's the matter?" she asked.

"I don't know," he said. "I went to the doctor for tests. I don't get the results back until two weeks from now."

"Two weeks?" his girlfriend asked. "That long? What exactly is the problem?"

"I don't know," Mosh said. "I keep feeling pain in my legs, back, and around here." The mouse felt along his pelvis area. "The pain seems to be getting much worse." Noiz hugged her boyfriend.

"You should've said something," she said. "Don't be stupid like that again!"

"I'm so sorry," he said. Noiz looked up at him.

"Is there anything that you need me to do?" she asked.

"Oh, no, it's fine," the mouse boy said.

"No, you are in my care," Noiz said. She walked him over the bed. "You should be resting since you are in so much pain." Mosh tried to push her off in vain.

"You don't have to do this," he said.

"I must!" Noiz said. "You owe me that much. You should've dealt with the pain when started. And you should've told me when there was a problem in the first place! At least let me do that." She smacked him on the back.

"Ow!" Mosh said. "Okay, okay. You win."

"Thank you," his girl said. She pushed him into their bed and covered him with the sheet. The mouse boy sighed and shook his head. He knew this would happen. But, it had to come out anyway.

For the next two weeks, Noiz became Mosh's nurse. She fed him, helped him to the bathroom, bathed him, took his homework to him, and kept him company. Mosh gave up on arguing with her. She wouldn't listen to him anyway. The other boys in Animal House came by to visit.

"Why didn't you say anything?" Graham asked.

"I didn't think in was a big thing," Mosh said. "It wasn't that bad last night at the party." He paused as soon as he said that. "Actually, I did feel a little bit of pain in my legs. And in my ankle too."

"Ah, so that's why you were sitting down all night," Graham said.

"Yeah," the mouse boy said. "I even thought about going home at one point. But, I got hungry."

"And then the dog episode happened?"

"I think Penelope made it worse. She's not a little puppy."

"How many guys did it take to get her out of there?"

Mosh did a quick count on his fingers. "I think six of us got that dog out of the kitchen. I probably didn't feel the pain because of the alcohol."

"Yeah, I did notice you drinking a lot. I just thought you were enjoying the party."

"No, it wasn't that. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever drank that much before in my life. The funny thing was I felt fine that morning. I didn't start feeling pain just before I went to the party. I thought it would go away before the night was over. I should've taken a hint and stayed home." Mosh rubbed his forehead like he could still feel the alcohol.

"Anything you need?" Graham asked. The mouse boy shook his head.

"I've already got Noiz-sama driving me crazy with her taking care of me," he said. "She won't let me get out of bed."

"What me to bring you something to keep you entertained?"

"Some shoujo manga would be nice."

Graham leapt to his feet and saluted. "Yes, mate!" He turned and walked out the door. Mosh gave him a little wave.

"Thanks," he said. The mouse boy lay back down on his bed.

Two weeks later, Noiz went with Mosh to the doctor to get his test results.

"I want to know everything," she said. She stayed by his side in the lobby. The kitty held her boyfriend's hand. Mosh held her hand back.

"What do you want to do after you find out?" Noiz whispered.

"I don't know," he said. She nuzzled him on the cheek.

"Mosh Benson," the doctor said. The mouse slipped his hand out Noiz's.

"I will be back," he said.

"I'll be waiting," she said back. The mouse boy turned and followed the doctor through the doorway. Noiz sat back and waited.

Two hours later, Mosh walked back into the waiting room. Noiz lifted her head.

"Well?" she asked. The mouse boy walked over to her as slowly as he could.

"It's nerve pains," he said. "It started from disease."

"How serious is it?" his girlfriend asked.

"They said that it's rose to a seven," Mosh said. "But it can be fixed with surgery." The kitty's eyes widened when she heard that.

"Go for it!" she said.

"Are you sure?" the mouse boy asked. Noiz quickly grabbed him by the hands.

"You came this far with getting help," she said. "Go further to fix it. Our health insurance can cover it." Mosh pressed his lips together.

"You sure this is okay?" he asked.

"It's up to you," the kitty said. "I would take it if I was you. Whatever you choose, I wish you luck." Mosh nodded once. By next week, he made the appointment for the surgery at the hospital.
