Colin and Jasper
I had no idea that priests and priestesses had some sort of an appeal to them. I learned that when I met Jasper. She’s kind of hard to get through to in a sense. I can see her, but I can’t reach her. Though, I did leave a bit of a dent in her calm demeanor. It wasn’t an easy meeting that day either.
I had just wondered into the on-campus temple by accident. My last class had ended early that afternoon. It was too early to go back to the dorm and the rain had just started to pour down. I just wondered around until I came across a strange building. I stared at it for a long moment.
What is this place?, he thought. Has it always been here? Before I knew it, I found myself taking slow steps towards the entry. By the time I looked around, I had already made it inside. Strangely, it felt warm inside. Almost like a sauna to be exact. I wiped away sweat from my forehead.
“Damn,” I muttered. Why is it so hot in here?”
“I can’t stand the cold,” I heard someone say. I quickly turned around. I saw a face up ahead of the narrow, gold aisle. I blinked at the eyes peering on me. I took a step backwards.
“Whoa!” I said. “Who are you?”
“Jasper,” the face said. “Trai Jasper. And you are?” I gave her a little smile.
“Colin,” I replied. The face narrowed its eyes at him.
“So you’re him,” it said. I blinked at this face.
“Why do you say it like that?” I asked.
“I’ve heard about you,” the face said. “Pervert!” I threw up my hands at the face.
“What?” I asked. “The lasses all fancy me, so sue me.” The face snorted at me.
“Perverted and egotistical!” it snapped. I frowned at the face.
“And what about?” I asked. “Come out and show yourself! You can’t really judge me without letting me see you, can you?” The face didn’t speak at first.
“Very well,” it said. The face rose to reveal the whole body. My eyes widened in shock at what I saw. This face led to a gorgeous young female body. The robes held her curves. She looked at me with sharp eyes.
“What?” she asked. I shook my head.
“Nothing, priestess,” I said. Jasper narrowed her eyes at me.
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
“It’s raining,” I said. She raised an eyebrow at him.
“And you decided to come here?” she asked.
“Pretty much,” I said. “Is that a problem?” The priestess didn’t speak at first.
“No, just don’t get in my way, okay?” she snapped. Jasper turned her back and returned to whatever she was doing. Curious, I walked up to the altar. She had a open, blank book in front of her. I watched her hand pick up a brush and write something down.
“What are you writing?” I asked.
“A lesson plan,” she said.
“Lesson plan?” I asked.
“Yes,” she said. “I teach here too, you know?”
“How can you teach and be a priestess here on campus?”
“I just am. Anything else?”
I shook my head. “No, not really.” I stared at her hands. “You have such nice hands.”
“Thanks, I guess…” she said. I stared at her long, polished nails.
“You have a boyfriend?” I asked.
“No,” she said. I blinked at her as if she spoke in her native language just now.
“What?” I asked. “Why not?”
“I’m a priestess.”
“So? Priests and priestesses can date and wed here, you know?”
“Not me!”
“But why?”
Jasper lowered her pen. “My choice, okay? Just shut up!” I noticed her cheeks were a bright pink as she shouted at me. I think I hit a weak spot with her that led to my fascination that followed later on.
